Set up Your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using an Authenticator App

Keep your account more secure through authenticator apps that utilize Time-Based One-Time PIN (TOTP).

Written by Glaiza Veluz

From using SMS based one-time PIN (OTP), ImpactMapper has now implemented Time-based One-Time Pin (TOTP) via authenticator apps. To set this up, please follow the steps below.

NOTE:

  • Before carrying out any step, install an authenticator app first (see Step 1).

  • For clients with existing SMS 2-Step Verification, start at Step 2 (or watch this video).

  • For clients who do not yet have 2-Step Verification, skip to Step 5 (or see this video).

1. Install an authenticator app on your mobile device. We recommend the use of Google Authenticator, but if you prefer other apps, feel free to install it on your mobile device.

2. Go to My Account -> User Settings and then scroll down to 2-Step verification. Click Disable.

3. A code will be sent to your registered number in ImpactMapper.

4. Enter the code you received.

5. Once the code is entered, click the Set up authenticator button.

6. The QR code appears. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app and then click Next. (Or you can enter the keys manually as well to your authenticator app). (NOTE: The screenshot below is just a sample QR code, you will have your own QR code on your end.)

7. ImpactMapper appears on the authenticator app; enter the 6-digit number from the authenticator app to the Verification code field. Then click Verify.

8. The backup codes show up. Ensure that you save the backup codes. Check the I’ve saved these backup codes and then click Done.

NOTE: Make sure to store these backup codes - for security reasons, we are not responsible for recovering/providing them in case you lose them.

9. This setups authenticator app as your 2-Step verification. Click Update Account.
