How can I Translate a Survey?

Creating multi-language surveys has never been easier using ImpactMapper's Instant AI Survey Translation

Written by Alexandra Pittman

ImpactMapper Surveys offers multi-lingual support, allowing you to implement surveys in different languages. Embedded in the surveys is the AI Auto-Translation which allows you to translate your survey in an instant. This feature offers a time-saving and cost-effective alternative to expensive translation services. Below are the steps in translating (and reviewing) your surveys using Instant AI-Translations.

Setting the Language/s

The first thing you need to do is to set up the language you will use for your survey. Go to the Overview tab of the survey page and navigate to the Languages. Click the Add language button and a dropdown of languages will display. Select/enter the language you will use for your survey.

In our example below, the other languages that will be used are Spanish and Portuguese. Depending on your needs, you can keep adding the other languages you need for your survey.

NOTE: You can also set up the default language for your survey.

Translate Your Survey

After setting up the languages in the Overview tab, navigate to the Design page. Here, you'll notice that each survey question is marked with a red box, indicating the question still needs translation.

To translate the questions, simply click the Auto-translate button located at the bottom of the screen. The progress bar, featuring the owl icon, moves towards the end, as the survey translation progresses.

Review the Translation

After the translation, the indicator bar disappears. Each question will be marked with a blue box, which signifies that the translation still needs to be reviewed

To review the translation, click on the question directly. This will reveal the settings for the question, which includes the gray translation icon.

Clicking the gray icon opens up the dialogue box which shows the generated translation. You can review the translations here and make edits as needed. In the image below, you can see the Spanish and Portuguese translations generated by the AI. Click the Update button once you've finished your review.

Outside the box, click Mark as Translated.

The green check icon will then appear, which signifies that the question has been fully reviewed. Click the Update button to close the box.

Do the review for each of the questions.

NOTE: A question can also be translated separately, by clicking the translate icon at the upper right corner of the question box.
