Definitions of Default Outcome tags provided in ImpactMapper

These are the definitions for Default Outcomes tags provided by default in ImpactMapper. You can use these to structure your own taxonomy or as an additional way to track social change and impact over time. 

  1. Strengthened quality of life: Improved general well-being - at the individual, and societal levels.

  2. Strengthened transparency and accountability: Policies/practices/resources are now in place, upholding transparency (state where open, honest communication is easily comprehensible) and accountability (state where one is held responsible for their actions).

  3. Strengthened social service system protecting citizens: Resources for citizen-focused social service benefits, programming have been dedicated.

  4. Strengthened power of social movements: Ideas, values are taken up much more easily by large groups today.

  5. Strengthened power to influence institutions: Ability to convince institutions to effectively take on roles involving governance is enhanced.

  6. Strengthened organizational development: Organizational performance is improved; organizational change is fostered.

  7. Strengthened infrastructure: Ability for systems to maintain basic function and capacity exist.

  8. Strengthened health outcomes:  Change(s) in one’s health status materialized.

  9. Strengthened governance: Policies or practices are instituted or dedication of resources committed to support an administrative/ economic/ political authority’s ability to manage.

  10. Strengthened emotional/psychosocial support: Capacity to support, address one’s emotional/psychosocial needs using the utmost quality is built up.

  11. Strengthened diversity of movements: Ensured that a network -whose member organizations united because of a common goal- is representative in nature.

  12. Strengthened cross-group dialogue: Increased or enhanced communication between groups representing different interests, agendas.

  13. Strengthened collective power: Enhanced movement building, “movements” being networks comprising of grassroots organizations united under a shared agenda of goals, aspirations.

  14. Strengthened climate justice: Enhanced the climate change social/political agenda.

  15. Strengthened civil society: Capacity in leadership, resource mobilization has been enhanced.

  16. Saved lives: Fewer individuals died.

  17. Reduced malnutrition: Fewer incidents involving underweightness (low weight for age) or wasting (low weight for height) or stunting (low height for weight).

  18. Reformed institutions: Restructure institutions, taking full consideration of human rights.

  19. Reduced discrimination: Fewer instances of treatment rooted in inequality, prejudice.

  20. More sustainable financial base: Ability to use financial reserves for whatever purpose is strengthened.

  21. Increased social cohesion: Enhancement in social capital, mobility, and inclusion- uniting to create space of belonging, trust, free from discrimination, and other inequalities.

  22. Increased security/safety: Overall feeling of safety -physical, psychological-  in environment is higher compared to that at first occurence/measure.

  23. Increased leadership: Greater opportunities, examples in leadership exist.

  24. Increased knowledge or skills: Expanded awareness, understanding of an issue, thematic matter.

  25. Increased justice: More opportunities for fair and just outcomes exist.

  26. Increased income: Amount of income - regardless of level- is higher.

  27. Increased representation: Increased presence in legislature, leadership, decisionmaking roles.

  28. Increased levels of formal leadership: Greater presence of appointed, recognized  leaders

  29. Increased water security: Greater availability of quality, and acceptable quantity, of water, with minimal risk.

  30. Increased food security: Greater availability of quality, and acceptable quantity, of food, with minimal risk.

  31. Increased labor justice: Freedom, enhanced ability to organize, secured liveable wage and safe workplace measure now exist.

  32. Increased equity: Equal opportunities are more readily accessible.

  33. Increased empowerment/agency: Opportunities for enhancing agency compared to first measure now exist.

  34. Increased energy efficiency:  Enhanced energy use compared to that in first measure.

  35. Increased effectiveness of advocacy: Increased technical and management capacity in carrying advocacy activities.

  36. Increased education: Average for the highest level of education attained is higher.

  37. Increased awareness: Positive shift in knowledge of a subject, issue.
